Aminu Tambuwal has capacity to defeat Buhari – Group

Aminu Waziri Tambuwal Support Group has urged Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s delegates to tomorrow’s presidential primaries to vote for Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State as their flag-bearer.
The group is rooting for the Sokoto governor who is seeking PDP’s presidential ticket for the 2019 general elections.

In an open letter to the delegates, which was made available to The Guardian yesterday, the group said the opposition needs a candidate like Tambuwal, who has constitutional immunity.

In Tambuwal, the party has the opportunity to give President Muhammadu Buhari a befitting retirement, it stated, and therefore urged the delegates to cast their votes for the governor during the primaries.

“Every passing day reminds us that we have a country to save.

Throughout the length and breadth of our country, our people are being killed in their thousands and we have lost count.

Our economy is depressed and our youths are despondent. Our country is divided in ways that it has never been.

Nigeria desires leadership now than ever, a new leadership that has eluded it for the past three years and one that can take it into the future.

A Gallup survey revealed that Nigerians want a new type of politician and a younger candidate in 2019. Governor Tambuwal best fits this profile.

“Nigerians are tired of leaders that make empty promises. The electorate this time would judge candidates by their performance.

While President Buhari has failed in running this country, Tambuwal is succeeding in Sokoto.

He enacted the Right to Education Bill and embarked on the most ambitious school enrolment drive which led to the reduction of out-of-school children by 50 per cent within his first two years.

“One last thing, and a very important factor our party should be considering: we need a candidate with constitutional immunity. Tambuwal, an incumbent governor, has this in the bag.

We cannot afford to have a candidate that can be harassed and blackmailed to succumb by the desperate Buhari administration,” the group stated.
