Owners of mechanic workshops, automobile dealers and occupants involved in trading along the Apo road corridor, known as Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX), have been handed a seven-day notices
FCT Ministerial Task Force on City Sanitation Chairman Ikharo Attah said the FCT Minister Muhammad Bello decried the continued defacing of the environment.
He ordered that the area’s master plan be restored.
Attah said on Monday the notice was to ensure that actions capable of causing damage was avoided.
He noted that the minister was not pleased that some of the illegal occupants were obstructing construction and defacing the environment.
“The first phase of the sanitation exercise billed for Monday next week after the ultimatum, would reclaim all the spots from Apo roundabout to the popular junction, known as Apo NEPA junction.
‘’The second phase would take off from NEPA junction to APO mechanic village, where illegal businesses had taken over great portions of the road, making it difficult for contractors to complete their work.
“This meeting was to enable us to interface with stakeholders who engage in one form of business or the other along the Apo road corridors, also known as Outer Southern Express way (OSEX).
“The minister gave us a directive to reclaim all the road corridors, to allow contractors complete their jobs, and allow the Abuja Environmental Protection Board officers beautify the place in accordance with Abuja master plan.
