The All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democractic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State yesterday engaged one another in invectives over the cargo airport project.
The opposition PDP alleged that the project was a fraudulent ploy by the Governor Kayode Fayemi administration to milk-dry the state’s treasury, describing it as ‘utopian’.
The state PDP Caretaker Committee Secretary, Diran Odeyemi, in a chat with reporters in Ado-Ekiti, described the project as another avenue to steal money to prosecute his “ill-fated 2023 presidential ambition.”
In a swift reaction, the ruling APC described the PDP’s allegations as ‘spurious’, ‘mischievous’ and ‘outright falsehood’, adding that the opposition party lacked moral right to comment on the cargo airport project being executed by the APC controlled administration.
The APC Director of Media and Publicity, Elder Sam Oluwalana, said the criticism is a sour grape in the mouth of the opposition party, adding that it showed its desperation to pull down the Fayemi administration.
