Dozens of people were killed in a deadly collision involving multiple vehicles on a major highway leading out of the capital, Kampala, on Wednesday. The authorities have reportedly revised their earlier figure of 63 fatalities.
A police spokesperson said the accident happened when a bus attempted to overtake a truck: “One of the drivers swerved in an attempt to avoid a collision, but this resulted in a head-on and side collision, causing a chain reaction that led to other vehicles losing control and overturning several times”.
Wednesday’s car accident is said to be one of the worst the country has experienced.
