Prominent Ugandan opposition leader Kizza Besigye has reportedly made a substantial financial contribution to the presidential campaign of Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine. Besigye, who is currently imprisoned on treason charges, reportedly delivered the funds through his wife, Winnie Byanyima, as campaigning for the January 15 election enters its final stages.

Over the weekend, opposition politicians gathered at Besigye’s home for a prayer meeting to express solidarity, describing the longtime politician as a political prisoner. The gathering attracted a broad cross-section of activists, religious leaders, and supporters.
