The UN children’s agency, UNICEF, warns severe flooding in Mozambique poses a “deadly threat” to children, as extreme weather continues to cause havoc across the region, reports allAfrica’s Boakai Fofana.
A flood as severe as the one 26 years ago is hitting southern and central Mozambique and is worsening. More rain is expected, and additional floodwaters will come into rivers from South Africa and Zimbabwe, which have also been affected by torrential rain. All the dams in the south are full and so any incoming water continues down the rivers, reports Mozambique News Reports and Clippings.
