Bayer Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso has said there is a possibility of pairing Victor Boniface and Patrik Schick in subsequent games, thanks to the impressive goal-scoring form of both players.

Fresh from his recovery from a thigh injury, Boniface has scored two goals in two matches, with the latest being a match-winner against FC Koln on Wednesday while Schick has also scored three goals in the last two games.

On Wednesday, Boniface was introduced 15 minutes to the end of the DFB Pokal quarter-final tie and he scored the winner in extra-time to win the game 3-2 and send Leverkusen into the semi-finals.

Schick had scored a brace for Alonso’s men in the game after they trailed FC Koln 2-0.

Perhaps the Spanish coach is envisaging a selection headache soon, Alonso is not ruling out the possibility of playing both players up front.
