ASUU begins two weeks warning strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) on Monday declared a two-week warning strike to protest the non-payment of salaries of lecturers not enrolled in the Federal Government’s Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS)

National President of the union Biodun Ogunyemi made the declaration after ASUU National Executive Council meeting in Enugu.

NEC resolved to embark on two weeks warning strike action with effect from Monday 9th March 2020, to compel the Government to implement the agreement and resolution,” Ogunyemi said.

He said the strike action was to compel the government to implement the agreement and resolution of Memorandum of Action it had with the union from 2009, 2013, 2017 and 2019.

  1. I criticized FG for this strike till i got full details behind the IPPS SYSTEM. Truth be said ASUU may have to reconsider their stand on this strike. Well, I feel they should immediately after this Covid 19. Students have long stayed at home and this energies the carry maybe turned into another thing. With this in view ASUU should start discussion on how to lift this strike. My mind tho.
