Cleric hails centre for caring for members

THE Chief Imam of Ojikutu Central Mosque, Ebute-Metta, Lagos, Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Olowo, has hailed a non-governmental organisation (NGO), the Centre for Disability Issues, for caring for it members, especially during the just concluded Ramadan fast and at all times.

Olowo, in his sermon at the weekend at the yearly Zakat and sharing of food items to people living with disabilities, organised by the NGO in Ebute-Metta, Lagos, praised the Coordinator of the centre, Comrade Kehinde Oshilaja.

He said despite being visually-impaired, Oshilaja did not allow this to discourage him, adding that he instead concentrated on how to liberate his colleagues by making them to be recognised by the government, to make their lives better.

The cleric urged Nigerians to love one another irrespective of religion or ethnicity.

Oshilaja said the group had made it an annual event to distribute food items to people living with disabilities, to make them celebrate as others, hence the choice of Zakat Day every year.

He said: “Our annual event of Zakat would not have been successful and memorable without the support of Ojora of Ijora Kingdom, Oba Fatai Aromire; Prince Tajudeen Olusi; Alhaji Mukaila Shokoya; Alhaji Lukman Ajose; Oladele Adekanye, Alhaji Sheu Ishola and others.”
