The Federal Government has approved N19.52bn for three road contracts in Oyo, Niger, Kano states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The approval also included N523m reviewed for the Efon-Elaaye-Erimo-Iwaraja road linking Ekiti and Osun states. It was first awarded in 2009.
The approvals were made in Abuja on Wednesday by the Federal Executive Council presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.
The Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, who spoke with State House correspondents after the meeting, gave the breakdown.
He said in Oyo State, N7.24bn was approved for the Igbo-Oloko-Agbole road in Oyo, while N7.52bn was approved for another road in Gulu town and Yaba town from Niger State to the FCT.
The minster added that for Kano State, N4.5bn was approved for Sharada to Madobi and Dambori road.
On the link road between Ekiti and Osun states, he said, “That road was awarded in 2009; the contractor had achieved about five per cent of the work; so, we are trying to complete that road.
“It was slowed down in previous years due to insufficient budget. During that period, the price at which it was awarded and today’s material prices have altered significantly.”
