The Federal Government is set to construct 100 houses in each of the 774 local government areas of the country.
The Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Atta, disclosed this in Kano on Tuesday evening, when the Deputy President of the Senate, Barau Jibrin, received hundreds of supporters of the New Nigeria People’s Party who defected to the All Progressives Congress.
He said under the new initiative, a total of 77,400 houses would be constructed across the country, of which Kano state would get 4,400 houses.
“This is a very nice program, where the President is going to build 100 houses in each of the local governments of the Great Nation. That is 77,400 houses.
“So if you multiply 100 by 44 local governments, we are going to get 4,400 houses. This is greater than any of our states”, he said.
He, therefore, urged the defectors and people of Kano State to support the administration of President Bola Tinubu in its continued efforts to improve the lives of all Nigerians.
He said such efforts included the provision of affordable houses under the Renewed Hope Housing Agenda across the country.
Earlier, while receiving them, Barau congratulated them for taking what he described as a wise decision.
“I congratulate and welcome you into our great party, the APC. I congratulate you on taking such a wise decision to join the APC, Africa’s largest political party.
“The APC is a party of progress and development, and a dividend of democracy”, he said.
