The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has arrested 51 illegal immigrants at New Nyanya, Karu Local Council of Nasarawa State. The illegal migrants, who are all Malians between the ages of 17 and 25, were arrested at their hideouts, following credible intelligence.

According to the NIS Public Relations Officer, ACI A.S Akinlabi, 11 of them are females, while 40 others are males. He stated that preliminary investigation conducted by the service indicated that the migrants may have been victims of Trafficking in Person (TIP) and Smuggling of Migrants (SOM),

He added that none of them presented any valid travel documents or residence permits during interrogation. Akinlabi said they are in custody and are undergoing further profiling and investigation.
