The Bauchi State Police Command says it neutralised two bandits and recovered an AK-49 rifle following a successful operation in the state.
The operation was carried out by the Alkaleri Divisional Police Headquarters in collaboration with Special Hunters.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Ahmed Wakil, in a statement issued on Wednesday, explained that the operation, launched on Tuesday, aimed to enhance security in the Gwana District and surrounding border regions near Taraba, Plateau, and Gombe states.
Using credible intelligence and community networks, the security team encountered the bandits during surveillance in the Dajin Madan Forest. The confrontation resulted in the neutralisation of two bandits, while others fled into nearby bushes after sustaining injuries.
The operation also led to the recovery of one AK-49 assault rifle and nine rounds of live ammunition.
Wakil noted the operation’s significance in demonstrating the commitment of security forces and community partners to combat banditry and improve public safety.
He stressed the Nigeria Police Force’s dedication to working with local stakeholders to protect citizens’ lives and property while holding criminals accountable.
He added, “The Nigeria Police Force, alongside its collaborators, will continue to intensify efforts to maintain peace and security in the region, fostering an environment conducive to community resilience and safety.”
The Police PPRO called on citizens to view security as a collective responsibility and urged the public to continue supporting the Nigeria Police Force in maintaining peace and safety in the region.
