The Nigeria Police, over the weekend, recorded major success stories in its ongoing fight against crime in the country after the operatives neutralised 14 criminals in Imo, Kebbi, and Ogun States.

Force’s spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi revealed that seven of the criminals were members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Imo while five terrorists were exterminated in Kebbi states.

He said the operatives recovered 23 arms and assorted ammunition and killed one armed robber in Ogun State. According to him, a follow-up on February 9, led to the interception of another group of terrorists in Nkwukwo Forest, Mbaitoli Local Government.

Olumuyiwa disclosed that three terrorist kingpins were neutralized, and two AK-47 rifles, one pump-action gun, one cutlass, four motorcycles, and various criminal charms were recovered.

He said the police operatives attached to the Kebbi State Command engaged kidnappers in a fierce gun duel in Tundafari Forest, Dakingari axis, on February 14, killing four kidnappers, arrested one with injuries, and rescued the kidnapped victim, Umaru Bawa.

“The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has commended the efforts of the operatives involved and emphasized the need for continued vigilance in the fight against crime,’’ he said
