President Donald Trump arrived in Beijing on Wednesday for a two-day meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping to discuss trade.

Trump was joined by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, as well as U.S. business leaders Tim Cook, Elon Musk and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. The president was welcomed by Vice President Han Zheng.

U.S. Ambassador to China David Perdue, Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng and China’s executive vice minister of foreign affairs Ma Zhaoxu were also there for the welcome ceremony.

The president landed in Beijing at about 7:50 a.m. EST aboard Air Force One. His son Eric Trump and daughter-in-law Lara Trump are also along for the trip.

Trump’s meeting with Xi is slated for Thursday morning, local time.

Trump’s visit follows more than a year of reshaping the United States’ trade policies centered around global retaliatory tariffs. China is currently subject to a 10% tariff on most goods after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled Trump’s tariffs imposed under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act were illegal.

Along with trade talks, Trump and Xi are expected to discuss artificial intelligence, the Iran War and Taiwan.

“We’re doing a lot of business [with China], but it’s smart business,” Trump said during a press briefing in the Oval Office on Monday.
