President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah delivered the State of the Nation Address (SONA), detailing a massive roadmap to revitalize the economy through strategic investment, energy security, and agricultural expansion.

She also highlighted key domestic priorities, including the rollout of fully subsidised tertiary education for eligible students, backed by expanded financial aid access. The president urged swift passage of the petroleum amendment bill, warning of the risks of mismanaging emerging oil resources, which are now being overseen under the Presidency.

Nandi-Ndaitwah said that the government has set a goal to reduce food imports by 80% by 2030 through increased production and farmer support. She also revealed that Namibia and Germany are nearing the conclusion of the 1904 to 1908 Ovaherero and Nama genocide negotiations. Nandi-Ndaitwah said the matter is set to be concluded before the end of 2026.
